About Yea
Yea has dedicated her life to helping people become the best versions of themselves. She has spent the past 20+ years coaching, mentoring, teaching, and supporting students and adults in a variety of settings, from elementary schools to college campuses. In addition to working with her clients, Yea is the Associate Director of Learning Services at the Urban School in San Francisco. Before working at Urban, Yea managed the first Department of Learning Services for the College Preparatory School, an independent high school in Oakland. Yea served as the Co-Director of a pre-freshman program at the University of Pennsylvania for five years, conducted workshops on time management, organization, and study skills to prepare students for the transition to college, and taught undergraduate courses in sociology for two years. Yea has experience conducting admissions interviews, reading admissions files, and consulting on admissions decisions for independent schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Yea also serves as an alumni admissions interviewer for Georgetown University.
Through her role as a Director of Learning Services for independent schools, Yea has extensive experience in advising parents and supporting students with diagnosed learning differences, interpreting and summarizing educational and neuropsychological evaluations, creating individual learning plans, and applying for accommodations on standardized tests through the College Board and ACT. Yea consults with school administrators on curriculum, assessments, admissions decisions, enrollment, and learning services protocols.
Yea collaborates with her husband Jai, who is the founder and CEO of LifeWorks Learning Center. LifeWorks specializes in mentoring, tutoring, test and college preparation for teens, as well as coaching for parents of teens. Yea and Jai live in Marin with their daughter.
